Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

A winner, not just another performance car but the soul of a muscle car packed into a full-size sedan as hellcat of the supercharged beast. As such, Chrysler came up with the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat to add “insane horsepower” to four door practicality in one of the most potent and exhilarating sedans available in the market. On a rather honest note, this one is certainly standing tall compared with every other in almost any feature and category concerning sheer performance, comfort, and just plain general usage in this line of high-performance muscle car contenders.

Sources of Charger SRT Hellcat

The Chargers was the charge into any nomenclature-actually first appearing in 1966, as a two-door fastback muscle car. The Charger will be forever defined by muscular aggression and brawny V8s, its status cemented as one of the most potent American muscle cars ever.

This concept faded out with the early 1970s, though, with tight emission standards and high fuel prices forcing the cancellation of many of the best big muscle offerings, including the Charger.

Fast-forward to 2006: The Dodge Charger nameplate returned as a four door sedan. And the new interpretation merges performance with everyday needs. The most extreme to date, though, is the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, which turns out 707 horsepower on a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine the same unit used in the Challenger SRT Hellcat. But with this move, however, Dodge exposed the four door family sedan to the performance of a very pricey supercar, which shocked the world of automotive interest and really fired up the thrill-seekers.

Engine And Performance

Inside this package lies the nasty heart of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 that happens to be pumping out 707 hp and 650 lb.-ft of torque. The Hellcat is arguably the most powerful sedan ever built, and for it, a 2.4-liter twin-screw supercharger will assist in forcing its air into the HEMI V8 and has much to contribute in delivering breathtaking accelerations. Of course, the SRT Hellcat Charge can blast to 60 mph in as little as 3.6 seconds-a full half-second quicker than most two-door sports cars.

But for those attached at the cellular level, there’s even more adrenalin the Hellcat Redeye model, which cracks horsepower up to 797 and torque up to 707 lb.-ft. That might allow the Charger Redeye to run as fast as an electronically limited 203 mph, firmly into supercar country. First, the Charger SRT Hellcat is a muscle car. But there are two flavors: standard and Redeye. The thinking in both cases is that nothing can be acceptable unless it is perfect and utterly without apology in its performance. This is for the speed addict who wants uncompromising, thoroughbred straight-line horsepower and who wants to feel that he or she is behind the wheel of one of the fastest sedans on earth.

Transmission and Drivetrain

The other special unit for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is its eight-speed exclusive automatic transmission. Its shift does not jerk any place and shifts very fast and smooth. It thus enables maximum power while maximizing efficiency concerning performance. It can be applied manually by way of paddle shifters attached at the back of the steering wheel, in which the driver can be in charge to experience an engaging feel and better handling in terms of gear selection.

Ironically enough, all Charger Hellcat variants are rear-wheel drive, thus anchoring themselves down to the philosophy of a muscle car its power and dynamics transmitted to the back wheel for that true driving feel. The car further comes in quite a suite of drive modes Auto, Sport, Track, and Custom wherein the style of throttle response, suspension stiffness, and what have you can be altered. It will give the driver much more freedom than he needs to mold his driving experience just to what he thinks it should be-from a languid promenade along the boulevard to playtime on the track.

Design

Offense and Very Obvious

Aggressive, muscular, unapologetically bold this four-door sedan, for sure, needed the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat design: massive in size, wide body with a massive hood scoop and big air intakes. All this is “embraced” by a fully functional front splitter, rear spoiler, and very wide fender flares for the mammoth tires, giving this vehicle a threatening position on the street.

Bling is there-a strip of badging above the air intakes sitting on the fenders and grille, where a snarling feline logo injects venom into the snout. So, everybody’s in the know at once that this is no garden variety sedan. And, at least only remotely evoking some sort of teenager and some paint and a not quite sane vision, the Hellcat can be ordered in a very wide range of bold colors, including some of the most iconic tints, like Plum Crazy and Go Mango, from which any would-be buyer with a desire to make a statement on road can choose.

Well, one mightn’t be too keen on the wide body kit that is now available for 2019, but it wasn’t just about aggressive styling. Really, it thrust the Charger SRT Hellcat way beyond what it presents to give it its bold first look.

It will prove stability more than ever, have more grip in most of the fast corners and stay better out of the turn.

Interior

Comfort Meets Performance

Inside, it is astonishing how roomy and plush it can be. So long as performance was their prime requirement, drivers could wind up both surprised and delighted by the functionality that such cars translate into daily transportation for five and cargo space equal. Rich leather and Alcantara fabric cloak soft seats supportive enough, but somehow just comfortable enough for endless stretches of highway or hot laps.

The Hellcat rolls with technology, too. Probably the most advanced and best infotainment system on sale in the market is on the top-of-the line Uconnect with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. For instance, whichever of the above SRT models to which the driver locks his choice will provide access to things like navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The standard performance pages-done in accounting for its fitment on all SRTs-will monitor everything from g-forces to lap times. It comes with every opulent feel of a performance sedan, from premium audio system to dual-zone climate control-all merged with heated and ventilated seats.

this Hellcat is going to be pretty safe; it is equipped with some enhanced driver-assistance features that were used for this model, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning. And who knows? Perhaps it won’t be impossible to appreciate how much such strong force can use low-speed meandering around dismal traffic jams and tear apart a racetrack.

Driving Experience

Heart-Stopping Thrill Like No Other

However, in real life, driving a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is far from normal. When you step on that pedal, you get this life-like roar under the pedal from a deep growling thunder-nothing about the capabilities of the vehicle in doubt. Acceleration comes in real-time as the rocket down the road and then relentless in its pacing with launching one more aft of the seat.

And now, technically this is a Charger Hellcat, big sedan doing things other vehicles aren’t supposed to do run straight and fast; and weirdly it feels nimble. And suspension, improved adaptive dampers keep the vehicle glued to the road when it dances hard into corners, but humongous Brembo brakes only end with terrific and very confidence-inspiring stopping power. Dodge magicked a large sedan into handling like a smaller performance car.

Well beyond its entirely niche status as just something to crack a track into, the Charger SRT Hellcat is simply a car well suited for daily driving, largely in large part due to its drive modes that can dial the Hellcat back into a comfortable, more relaxed experience when desired. That puts it in yet another category: those that can unite thrilling power with genuine real-world usability.

Conclusion

That means it’s the absolute best a performance sedan could get and there’s no more room left for outrageous horsepower, undeniable design, and overwhelming practicality redefining what modern muscle cars can be. Just when you need a car that turns your head and gives you an unforgettable driving experience, or just to dominate the drag strip, then you can’t beat it. But for anyone getting into the driver’s seat for a fix of adrenaline and velocity in a four-door pack, the real road legend is the Charger SRT Hellcat.
